FALLING IN LOVE: Part 2

‘f you make me fall in love with you

Please don’t say you were not warned

For as I fall, I’ll break some bones

Lame in love to rise no more.

Start to count the cost

For it will take the world

To talk me out a jot

Of making you my world

Please don’t leave your heart ajar

Not even slightly, please be warned

For like a bandit, I will barge in

To build a wall across that door

Get a court letter

 But it will take forever

To pull me out an inch

Of loving you for ever

Don’t lead me on please I’m pleading

If you don’t need a second skin

For like the dusk chases the dawn

I will, till our shadows become one.

Run with a thousand feet

Fly with a thousand wings

But I’ll have to lose my sight

To lose you from my sight

FALLING IN LOVE

Sometimes we fall, we just fall
With no reason and no cause
Simply because standing still is            plain ordinary
But each time, I choose You
    To fall for You,
To fall in love with You
Yet this thrill of falling, untimely met with a crushing reality at the bottom
My fragile encasement, some what broken
Peeling my once flawless exterior
I sob, I nag, I even rant
Then I remember,
    I could keep falling forever,
In love with You
    The thrill You bring
The sudden rush of adrenalin
The repeated skips in my heart
Outweighs it all,
     ‘Cos You first loved me
And, I’ve always known You          outweigh these all.

Am Proud African!

I used to read a lot about race issues when I was younger; and I am still overwhelmed with sadness when I remember the story of the young Nigerian Guy who was murdered on the street of London by a white dude. Even though I had an understanding of what racial discrimination was, I could never appreciate it full until I found myself in America.

Prior to moving here, all I knew was that I was me. I didn't know what it meant to be African. I didn't know what it meant to be black. All I knew was that I was just me, and most people around me were also like me. We ate the same foods, we wore similar clothes, we spoke the same languages, we shared a common culture and belief system, irrespective of religious values.

I have never questioned and appreciated who I was until recently. When I talk, people realize that I talk differently.  It is always a struggle to get my name right. The food I like to eat is not easily available here. I cant share some jokes with people because they would never get it. Anytime I wear braids, I am always questioned about how I managed to get my hair in that state. Or sometimes when i go low extension, they tend to question why I have to cut my hair in just a short period of time.

I begun to realize that I wasn't just me. I was a part of something bigger. I was a part of a race, a culture, a history. I am an African, a proud one at that.

Our continent is so rich with culture, diversity and history. Our people are the warmest you would ever meet. We have a very rich and interesting culture. We have a very beautiful melanin full black skin. We have faced a lot of travesty, and our problems are unlimited, but our spirit and hope can never be broken.  Africans are beautiful, and I am proud to be one.

I Love Africa!

My First Blog: WELCOME TO MY WORLD

Hmmm...okay am finally here...

Its friday and the start of the weekend on a cold friday night here in gonyeli Northern Cyprus. Here blogging has been on my mind for some time now, i actually tried it but couldnt keep to it as i realise that to blog requires that you give your time to here. Now here i am fully ready to keep with the rudiment and sacrifice that goes with blogging.

So why am I back here again?

I love to share myself, tell my stories. Share lives experiences, make people laugh and hope to encourage someone out there with my writings and poems. I guess that is why I am here.

Bottom line is, my mind is that of a roller coaster, which sometimes i have to let out or else I will burst. Anyways, will be sharing reality thoughts as it flows, daily happenings reflecting in my poems,  laid bare and true with no pretense.

You call me da diva...

xoxo..welcome to my world.

Kisses.
