Invest In Yourself (Consideration for 2018)

"One great investment which you can always make, promising high returns, is in yourself. You are worth every ounce of it. Investing in yourself is never a waste of time and money". (Me)

True wealth emits its light from the inside to the outside; from you to those people around you. Investing in yourself will not just improve your own life, but the lives of those around you. Invest in yourself now to build yourself up for tomorrow.

As I sit, putting pen to paper, sharing with you this little piece, let it be a reminder or a little token of awakening for the new year. Always remember, it does not matter how long a step it ake to discover yourself, in the end your future self will be forever grateful.

Remember: You'll be around for much longer than any expensive thing you've bought or you'll ever buy; so invest in yourself. Whatever it takes to improve your substance. You are a substance; a magnificent substance to the human race.

Hence, I am leaving you this little consideration for the New Year.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR 2018.

________________________________
1. ON EARNING:
Never depend on single income. Make investment to create a second chance.
_________________________________
2. ON SPENDING:
If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.
________________________________
3. ON SAVINGS:
Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.
________________________________
4. ON TAKING RISK:
Never test the depth of a river with both feet.
________________________________
5. ON INVESTMENT:
Do not put all eggs in one basket.
________________________________
6. ON EXPECTATIONS:
Honesty is a very expensive gift. Do not expect it from cheap people.
________________________________
7. Past is a waste paper, present is a newspaper, and future is a question paper. Come out of your past, control the present, and secure the future.
________________________________
8. When bad things happen in your life, you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.
_______________________________
9. Our eyes are in the front because it is more important to look ahead than to look backwards.
_______________________________
10. We use pencil when we were young, but now we use pens. Do you know why? Because mistakes in childhood can easily be erased, unlike now.

Happy Holidays, see you all in 2018.

Why Do We Read?

Asking question is one way to acquiring knowledge especially on things you do not have prior knowledge of. As such I've always asked myself questions. Last week, the question for me was: why do I read? I came up with some answers and quotations and thought I should share. For me;

I read to escape into unknown worlds to meet known and unknown people...
I've traveled the world twice over,
Met the famous; saints and sinners,
Poets and artists, kings and queens,
Old stars and hopeful beginners,
I've been where no-one's been before,
Learned secrets from writers and cooks
All with one library ticket
To the wonderful world of books.
~ Anonymous ~

Reading is a path into history unknown: past and future...

Books are the legacies that a great genius leaves to
mankind, which are delivered down from generation to
generation as presents to the posterity of those who are yet unborn,
~ Joseph Addison ~

To be called vast, well read...to know a bit of everything...
If you read a lot of books you are considered well read. But if you watch a lot of TV, you're not considered well viewed.
Lily Tomlin

Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted;
nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider.
Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed,
and some few to be chewed and digested:
that is, some books are to be read only in parts,
others to be read, but not curiously, and some few
to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention
~ Francis Bacon ~
Books are faithful friends...

He that loves a book will never want a faithful friend,
a wholesome counselor, a cheerful companion, an effectual comforter.
By study, by reading, by thinking, one may innocently
divert and pleasantly entertain himself,
as in all weathers, as in all fortunes.
~ Barrow ~

A book is good company.
It is full of conversation without loquacity.
It comes to your longing with full instruction,
but pursues you never.
~ Henry Ward Beecher ~

To view reality and escape from it...

All the best stories in the world are but one story in reality -- the story of escape.
It is the only thing which interests us all and at all times, how to escape.
~ Arthur Christopher Benson ~

When we read a story, we inhabit it.
The covers of the book are like a roof and four walls.
What is to happen next will take place within the four walls of the story.
And this is possible because the story's voice makes everything its own.
~ John Berger ~

There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away,
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry.
~ Emily Dickinson ~
To read is to live and to live is to read...

To read is to empower
To empower is to write
To write is to influence
To Influence is to change
To change is to live.
~ Jane Evershed ~

Read in order to live.
~ Gustave Flaubert ~

Let us hear from you: why do you read? Also share your favourite 'reading' quotes (would love quotes from Africans too)..

NOVEMBER!

"Always be appreciative and grateful for every breathe and opportunity of another second spent. Indeed a miracle to behold, even as the next moment comes unknown". -bosybosyde

Thinking out loud, i whispered "oh yeah, its less than two months to the NEW YEAR". Within me, am over whelmed with joy, knowing how tough the journey this year has been. Coming this far, can only be by GOD's grace and His mercies.

My prayers for the remaining 55 days in 2017 to everyone is that, the mercy of God will overflow into your life, your home. Through out the remaining weeks, your mornings will be good, your afternoons will be great, your evenings will be glorious and your nights will be peaceful in Jesus name.

The goodness and mercy that has no bound which cometh from above will encompass you.

The Lord will open the heavens each day to water your ground, keep you evergreen, blooming and flourishing in his fruitfulness. To everyone going through tough and challenging trials, He will banish the sorrows and soon you have a good laugh and a course to rejoice and share your testimony.

By His grace in the days ahead, no weeping, no mourning, no regrets, no lamentations, no untimely deaths and no loss in your household.

Angels of blessings will visit you each of the 55 days with packages of miracles, breakthrough, signs and wonders. They will grant you unceasing celebrations and testimonies๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™.

To you November, welcome!

Its All About Persistence!

Its been like forever around here. No i did'nt ignore the blog, nor was it forgotten that i have one. But life sometimes has its way of taking its toll on us all. Above all, am happy to say i conquered and much happier to find my writting pen again. I hope you enjoy this little pieces i'd put together while away.

Be persistent my friends, cos life is about persistence.

Enjoy!

As my friend was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes they were tied to but for some reason, they did not. My friend saw a trainer nearby and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

"Well," he said, "when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free." My friend was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? So make an attempt to grow further.... Why shouldn't we try it again?

"YOUR ATTEMPT MAY FAIL, BUT NEVER FAIL TO MAKE AN ATTEMPT."
